Nonresidents 16 years old or older are required to have a fishing license. Obtaining this annual license allows nonresidents to fish or otherwise legally take, use, have possession of or transport species of fish from inland waters and boundary rivers of Iowa, as outlined by the regulations in the annual Iowa Fishing Seasons and Limits pamphlet. Additionally, anglers must pay the Trout Fee to fish for or possess trout. Anglers under 16 years old may fish for or possess trout if they pay for their own Trout Fee or if they are accompanied by a licensed adult who has paid the Trout Fee and together they limit their catch to the one person daily limit of five trout.

3RD FISH LINE This license allows non-resident angler to use a 3rd fishing pole, in addition to the two permitted under a regular fishing license.

Nonresidents regardless of age must pay the Trout Fee to fish for trout. However, nonresidents 15 years old or younger may fish for or possess trout with a licensed adult who has paid the trout fishing fee and limit their combined catch to the daily limit established by the commission or purchase their own Trout Fee.
